MSA Safety is looking to solve the problem of protecting people and assets by deploying innovation and technology to deliver on their Mission, and this role is part of that effort to design and develop safety products used by first responders and industrial workers.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in circuit design, component selection and PCB physical construction for EMC compliant electronic circuits.
- Design experience with low power electronics for agency compliance for hazardous environments.
- Proficient in the use of Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design
- Use of statistical tools (Mini Tab) and risk analysis (i.e. DFSS, FMEA)
- Experience designing electronics for hazardous environments using various protective measures such as intrinsically safe design concept
- PCBA design with preferred experience in gas detection, analog circuit design, and programmable logic devices.
- Working knowledge of statistics.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, analysis, testing and troubleshooting of electronic assembles integrated in safety products used by first responders and industrial workers
- Incorporate electronic designs with software, mechanical, test and manufacturing capabilities in order to ensure successful products are delivered on time while meeting agreed upon product performance specifications.
- Participate on cross-functional project teams in the development of new MSA products.
- Work with customers, both internal and external, to determine product design requirements.
- Perform design work including embedded systems, digital and analog circuitry, power supplies and connectivity interface.
- Plan, prioritize, and complete engineering investigations on existing products, including resolving component obsolescence issues, investigate and provide data-backed decisions on non-conforming components and providing assistance with customer product inquiries
- Develop & execute test plans to evaluate products/components
