WSP USA is seeking to enhance its Property & Buildings Team by bringing in interns to gain hands-on experience in electrical engineering and design within the building and construction industry. This program aims to develop future professionals by exposing them to real projects and providing mentorship.
Requirements
- Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering and related disciplines including: Power distribution design and analysis, Lighting design, analysis and controls., Low-Voltage systems’ design and analysis
- Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and electrical diagrams.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Learn Autodesk Revit to model Electrical, Lighting & Low Voltage components and systems.
- Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering and related disciplines including: Power distribution design and analysis, Lighting design, analysis and controls., Low-Voltage systems’ design and analysis
- Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and electrical diagrams.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Learn Autodesk Revit to model Electrical, Lighting & Low Voltage components and systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
- Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project.
Other
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
