Second Order Effects (SOE) is looking to hire an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and support their electrical engineering team across two offices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions, mentoring engineers, and fostering professional growth while aligning team efforts with project goals and shaping the discipline's processes and capabilities.
Requirements
- 7+ years in an electrical engineering and hardware development role for aerospace, industrial automation, and/or robotics, especially for tightly coupled systems
- 5+ years of progressively impactful electrical engineering leadership roles
- Expertise in successfully executing end-to-end electronics design from requirements generation through hardware bring-up
- Ability to evaluate and manage project risk, including scope creep, remediating missing critical requirements, and ensuring that technical challenges are sufficiently addressed
Responsibilities
- Shape the Electrical Engineering (EE) team across both offices by being accountable for their engineering decisions, output, and outcomes
- Ensure the success of projects in multiple industries by partnering with Business Development to define technical scope, execution expectations and success criteria
- Leverage technical expertise in mentoring and supporting ongoing electrical engineering development efforts while balancing personnel management priorities
- Establish standards, processes, and best practices that promote consistency, efficiency, and excellence in electrical design and execution
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define opportunities for growth within the electrical engineering team, both in skills and capabilities
- Expertise in successfully executing end-to-end electronics design from requirements generation through hardware bring-up

- Manage, mentor, and support the EE team, helping them develop career goals that align with the business strategy, build their skills, and advance professionally
- Set clear performance expectations for the team and effectively resource members to multiple concurrent projects and efforts
- Aptitude for cross functional community building and collaboration with mechanical, software, systems and test engineers to improve the output of electrical engineering team
- Strong communication skills; ability to synthesize and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in Redmond, Washington, USA
- Applicant must be willing to travel monthly to the Los Angeles, CA office
- Applicant must be eligible to work on export controlled projects
