The Boeing Company is looking to solve electromagnetic effects research problems by evaluating, analyzing, and measuring EM properties of advanced materials and configurations, and developing new EM digital engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience with EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), or E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects)
  • Experience working within engineering teams for the definition and execution of work
  • Experience with computational electromagnetic software (CST, COMSOL, FEKO, EMA3D, etc. or self-developed FEM or FDTD solvers)
  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic principles
  • Experience with the phenomena, analysis, and testing of lightning direct effects, lighting indirect effects, electrostatics, precipitation statics, and/or HIRF
  • Experience with software languages (i.e., Python, MATLAB, C++)
  • Knowledge of wiring diagrams and typical design procedures

Responsibilities

  • Impact technical investigations, as negotiated and assigned, independently or with a small team of engineers.
  • Maintain and advance computational electromagnetic and multi-physics tools, to include time- and frequency-domain methods in both low frequency and high frequency models.
  • Apply electromagnetic theory to develop advanced electrical analysis and measurement techniques and test processes for determining lightning direct effects and static charge performance on carbon fiber composites and mixed-material structural interfaces.
  • Interface with materials engineers for the definition and qualification of new materials that meet lightning direct effects and static charge performance requirements, while meeting structural and manufacturing engineering requirements.
  • Advise, design, and define necessary testing to characterize materials in electromagnetic environments.
  • Apply knowledge of antenna design, RF spectrum, transmitter and receiver architectures, and RF distribution system components to coupling analyses, interference mitigation, propagation studies, and the definition of interference thresholds.
  • Develop and validate electromagnetic requirements for electrical-electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures

Other

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 10% travel required
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • Must meet export control compliance requirements
