The Embedded Advisor – Construction & Vehicle Pathways serves as a dedicated student support specialist embedded within the Air Conditioning, Aviation & Automotive Department. This role is responsible for providing proactive, individualized academic and career advising to students enrolled in programs such as Air Conditioning, Electrical, Building Maintenance, Automotive, Aviation Maintenance, and related trades. The advisor supports student retention, completion, and entry into the workforce by integrating closely with faculty, staff, and institutional support services.

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning, Electrical, Building Maintenance, Automotive, Aviation Maintenance, or related trades.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in Air Conditioning, Electrical, Building Maintenance, Plumbing, Automotive, Diesel, Heavy Equipment, Aviation Maintenance, or related trades.
  • Experience advising students in career and technical education (CTE), workforce, or pathway-aligned programs.
  • Experience with student information systems, advising software, or degree planning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized academic advising to current and prospective students in construction and vehicle-related programs.
  • Assist students with degree planning, course selection, registration, and understanding graduation requirements.
  • Monitor student academic progress and coordinate early alerts, interventions, and support referrals.
  • Help students connect their academic work to career goals within skilled trades, aviation, and automotive industries.
  • Provide guidance on certifications, stackable credentials, and pathways to employment or further education.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student onboarding, orientation, and program-specific transition activities.
  • Coordinate communication to promote registration, deadlines, workshops, and academic milestones.
