Amazon LEO is looking to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and needs an Embedded Software Engineer to architect and deliver software solutions for the Customer Terminals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C-Sharp, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, and validate software solutions for onboard power management systems.
  • Design and develop close-loop control algorithms that leverage sensor peripherals, microcontrollers, and custom silicon.
  • Enable data-driven performance insights through automated test execution, collection, and analysis pipelines.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure that every Leo device shipped meets requirements.
  • Define and execute software release processes, CI/CD, and quality verification.
  • Work hands-on with hardware test equipment.
  • Deliver clear documentation and user-focused software for engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish solving problems that haven’t been solved at scale before.
  • Ability to learn from world-class engineers, build systems that scale globally, and see your work ship directly into the hands of customers.
  • Ability to work with a total compensation company, with equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation provided as part of a total compensation package.
