Joby is looking to develop and test the high voltage battery charger for their S4 eVTOL aircraft, which is a safety-critical system responsible for charging, thermal conditioning, and data transfer for the aircraft's batteries.
Requirements
- Demonstrable proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) and experience with C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Proven experience with test methodologies, test planning, and defect tracking tools.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting complex test setups preferably involving physical hardware and measurement equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Knowledge of electric vehicle (EV) battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), and charging standards (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, relevant industrial standards).
- Experience testing BGSE or similar high-voltage systems.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing platforms.
Responsibilities
- Conduct functional, performance, regression, and stress testing of embedded software components.
- Identify, document, and track software defects and work closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
- Partnering with the SW Automation Team, design and implement automated test scripts and frameworks (e.g., Python, C/C++) for continuous integration and testing.
- Configure and maintain test environments, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators, and other specialized test equipment.
- Analyze system requirements and specifications to ensure test coverage is complete and accurate.
- Participate in design and code reviews to provide input on testability and quality.
- Maintain and update documentation related to testing processes, tools, and results
Other
- Must be available for potential US and international travel to support BGSE installations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software developers, systems engineering, and operations personnel
