Exponent is looking for a Data Scientist to help clients solve challenging technical problems, often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary, within the energy, environment, and infrastructure sectors.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related engineering/scientific field (such as Applied Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics)
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in two or more of the following areas: Data/software product development, Spatial analysis, Engineering data pipelines, Software verification and validation
  • Proficiency with two or more of the following: Python, R, C++, SQL, and Linux (RH 7+)
  • Prior experience with energy, environment and infrastructure related projects (such as electric, gas or water utilities, as well as transportation and freight logistics) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a range of consulting activities related to large-scale network problems involving energy, environment and infrastructure, including model development, data analysis, and visualization
  • Developing cloud-based storage and computation solutions including client-facing visualizations of key decision metrics
  • Actively solving technical and logistical problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Implementing and iterating algorithms, analyses, and visualizations to support clients in the consumer electronics, utilities, and life sciences.
