The organization is looking to improve efficiency and productivity by developing automation solutions, and this Backend Engineer role is focused on building and enhancing foundational event and queuing services to support the organization’s core products and internal teams.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience in Python, Go, or Typescript.
- At least 2 years focused on building event or streaming systems at scale.
- Experience with event architectures and services using technologies like Kafka (MSK) and Avro.
- Experience with highly available, cloud-based infrastructure, preferably on AWS.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Strong experience with AWS services, cloud computing technologies, and distributed data stores.
- Experience building automated tools and advocating for hands-off deployments and infrastructure as code.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance event and queuing systems critical to the organization’s infrastructure.
- Work with AWS services such as MSK, SQS, Redis, S3, Lambda, and Aurora to develop scalable solutions processing billions of events per day.
- Use Terraform to maintain and build infrastructure.
- Build toolkits, libraries, and scripts to support internal teams with event and queue systems.
- Contribute to data governance practices, including data structure and hygiene.
- Refactor and improve existing code, adapting to evolving languages, frameworks, or techniques.
- Provide feedback on tools, processes, and documentation.

- 4+ years of software development experience
- SRE experience is preferred
