Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Responsible/Analysis Engineer or Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer – Secondary Power with experience in aircraft gearboxes and auxiliary drive systems development and integration to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience
  • Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience, OR Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience
  • Professional experience related to the development and integration of gearboxes and auxiliary drive subsystems or components
  • Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft
  • Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
  • Experience with auxiliary components such as generators, PMG, oil pumps and hydraulic pumps
  • Experience with lithium ion batteries

Responsibilities

  • Performing responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of gearbox and auxiliary drive system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Performing system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
  • System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  • System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure qualification and airworthiness criteria are met.
  • Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

  • Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline
  • Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time
