Newport News Shipbuilding is looking for an individual to administer the I&C lab and serve as a network lead within the E11 SUBMARINE ENGINEERING - ADVANCED PROPULSION team. This role involves designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software and systems, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the successful planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a network engineering role
- Project planning and execution
- Familiarity with emerging technologies like SDN, NFV, automation tools, or cloud-based networking solutions
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensures software standards are met.
- Responsible for the I&C lab as an administrator and network lead.
- Regularly communicates with Navy, Department Leads, Supply Chain, NNL, Engineers/Designers across Departments, via email, phone, and in person meetings.
