Newport News Shipbuilding is looking for a software engineer to design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems for Shipboard software, ensuring software standards are met and providing technical leadership.

Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensures software standards are met.
- Responsible for designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging software applications and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions for Shipboard software.
- Provide technical leadership through daily activities, to include preparation and/or peer review of approval letters, interdepartmental memos, process guidelines, testing documentation, code, etc.
- Regularly communicates with the Navy, NNL, outside vendors, and management/engineers across the PPPY and other NNS departments via email, phone, and meetings.
