Xcel Energy is looking for an intern to work on designing and managing capital projects throughout the Energy Supply SPS fleet, to provide hands-on engineering design and project management experience in power plant capital projects.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.
- Experience or Proficiency with data analytics tools.
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in an ABET accredited engineering program
Responsibilities
- Lead small capital projects at power plants.
- Develop scopes of work for capital projects.
- Perform engineering analysis on assigned capital projects.
- Develop schedules and budgets for capital projects.
- Communicate technical details to vendors and other business units.
Other
- Current student, Junior or Senior status (as of May 2025)
- Able to commute to Harrington/Nichols Station and 790 Buchanan in Amarillo, TX- Hybrid schedule
- The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer and 15-20 hrs./wk. during a school semester.
- Ex. 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program
