The City of Tucson's Water Department needs an Engineering Manager to manage and coordinate the review and acceptance of developer-financed projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective personnel supervision.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) License - Arizona Board of Technical Registration (ABTR)
- Five (5) years of directly related experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Five (5) years of demonstrated progressive experience in the design, construction, and management of water or wastewater project/facilities
- Experience in city, county, or state government; public or private utility experience
Responsibilities
- Manages and coordinates the review and acceptance of developer financed projects by effectively leading and supervising personnel.
- Applies Engineering Seal to Tucson Water Job Order Contract Plans for short main extensions.
- Ensures that developer financed projects comply with local, state and federal regulations.
- Administers the City of Tucson’s Water Service Area Policy.
- Supervises staff during the review of developer financed projects.
- Reviews plans for conformity to design standards and specifications.
- Accepts plans for the water department for substantial conformance with standard specifications and details and administers the City of Tucson’s Water Service Area Policy.
Other
- Provides training, counseling, and mentoring to staff.
- Conducts employee reviews and approves bi-weekly payroll.
- Provides effective leadership and supervisory control of section staff.
- Ensures section staff has the necessary resources and guidance to ensure successful review of developer financed projects.
- Provides oversight and directly interfaces with consultants, contractors and the public.
