Every minute matters in fire response, and most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Pano AI aims to provide a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires so that fire authorities can quickly respond.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time in a senior role
- 3+ years of experience managing a software engineering team of 4 or more direct reports
- 3+ years of experience in a dynamic, early-stage startup environment
- Proven ability to operate within an enterprise SaaS or similar environment
- Experience developing with React, TypeScript, and enterprise Java (preferred)
- Familiarity with SQL (PostgreSQL), event-driven architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes (preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms, like GCP, and supporting mission-critical distributed systems (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Lead a team that builds with purpose, hiring, mentoring, and empowering a diverse group of engineers
- Drive projects from start to finish, defining scope, managing timelines, and clearing any technical or organizational roadblocks
- Be a technical guide and a process innovator, guiding the team on technical decisions and ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and maintainable
- Act as a strategic partner, working closely with product, design, and other teams to align engineering efforts with company goals
- Stay connected to the code, occasionally contributing to the codebase to stay grounded in the team’s workflow and drive best practices
- Own the team's success from concept to execution, directly enabling first responders to save lives
- Foster a culture where everyone feels safe to take ownership, learn, and grow, knowing their work has a tangible impact
