EPE is looking to recruit an Engineering Manager with a background in Interconnection or Transmission Planning for the Western Interconnect (WECC) region to support growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise.
Requirements
- Experience in IBR modelling, transmission planning and/or interconnection studies and processes.
- Strong understanding of FERC, NERC and ISO interconnection requirements and standards.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages:PSLF, PowerWorld, PSSE, PSCAD, TARA and ASPEN
- Direct experience working at an ISO/Utility or on behalf of these entities as a consultant.
- Direct experience with the ISO New England or NYISO systems would be considered a plus.
- Experience with large load interconnection studies and processes.
- Experience with DER interconnection processes.
Responsibilities
- Support generation, large load and merchant transmission developers navigate interconnection processes across the Western Interconnect (WECC).
- Advise internal/external stakeholders on complex interconnection related matters by leveraging your critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Review ISO and/or Utility interconnection study results and work with your team to replicate findings and identify errors or alternative mitigations that could impact assigned network upgrades and project success.
- Work with senior leadership to develop new tools and services.
- Drive expansion and growth into new regions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging technologies.
- Develop net new and enhance existing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, industry organizations, and regulatory agencies.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in the electric energy industry.
- Active participation and leadership in industry taskforces and/or working groups.
- Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in mentoring diverse teams.
