The Engineering Manager plans and directs projects assigned to engineering function to ensure that project objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Fosters the development of the engineering team.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of engineering, testing, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to effectively solve problems with diverse groups of people.
- Well-developed leadership and planning skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to develop and coordinate activities of others and to focus on major project resources to ensure assignments are completed accurately, on time, and on budget.
Responsibilities
- Reviews project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Manages assigned projects from conception to end of life.
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Investigates and implements best practices for engineering function.
Other
- Fosters the development of the engineering team.
- Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
- Provides input at customer site by suggesting alternate designs to reduce manufacturing cost.
- Supports MEC sales department in serving our customers.
- Trains and develops project engineers and improves systems used by engineering group.
