Agero is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to drive engineering excellence, own team outcomes, and ensure the consistent and high-quality delivery of impactful software for their SaaS systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years software engineering experience, and 3–5+ years In Engineering Management role.
  • Proven experience delivering scalable, reliable SaaS products.
  • Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, APIs, and modern engineering practices.
  • Ability to coach senior engineers and guide architectural evolution.
  • Ruby on Rails experience.

Responsibilities

  • Guide system design, architecture decisions, and trade-offs for reliable and scalable SaaS systems.
  • Ensure strong engineering practices—code quality, testing, observability, operations, and incident readiness.
  • Provide technical context and review without needing to be hands-on daily.
  • Own team commitments end-to-end—planning, prioritization, delivery, and meeting timelines.
  • Drive predictable execution and balance process with agility in a mature SaaS environment.
  • Communicate risks, status, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, QA, Security, and Operations to shape roadmaps and deliver high-impact outcomes.

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing remote engineering team (6–10 engineers).
  • Set clear expectations, ensure accountability, and foster a culture of ownership, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen communication clarity and remote team engagement through effective rituals and leadership presence.
  • Elevate communication clarity and leadership presence, ensuring polished written and verbal communication across senior leadership, partners, and engineering teams.
  • Excellent communicator who can influence across functions and levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, align, and motivate remote teams.
  • Experience in a mid-to-large SaaS organization with a balance of process and agility.
