The City of Tucson's Environmental Services Department is seeking an Engineering Manager to manage environmental and engineering consultants, oversee construction projects, and manage the design and construction budget.
Requirements
- Professional Engineering license issued by the Arizona Board of Technical Registration
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona or in another state having a reciprocity agreement with Arizona is required at the time of application.
- Experience interpreting construction documents, including plans, specifications, and design standards
- Experience in vertical construction management, vertical construction design, international building codes, specification writer, ability to read construction plans and interpret specifications, and permitting process
- Supervisory experience in an engineering discipline
- Project Management Professional or related Project Management Certification
- Ability to read construction plans and interpret specifications
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the preparation of Capital Improvement Project(s) (CIP), capital budgets, capital plans, and maintains complex CIP records.
- Oversees construction of projects and contract administration by providing project designs and ensuring CIP compliance.
- Completes the evaluation process of professional engineering consultants.
- Serves as a technical advisor and maintains ongoing communication with project stakeholders on CIP statuses to ensure milestones are met.
- Oversees and reviews estimated project budgets, as well as design, construction, permit, and other applicable costs.
- Ensures accuracy of presented work order estimates, scopes, and budgets to project stakeholders.
- Reviews requested change orders and processes pay applications as submitted by consultants and contractors.
