General Atomics (GA) is looking to solve technical problems in the development of advanced electromagnetic systems, related power equipment, and other high technology products for government and commercial applications, specifically in the area of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) engineering for weapon and space system projects.
Requirements
- Technical expertise in the application of GNC engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice
- Project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
- Ability to resolve complex management and technical problems
- Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- A Professional Engineering License
- Original work(s) published in professional engineering journals
- Experience with GNC system design, simulation model development, trade studies, performance analyses, ground and flight testing
Responsibilities
- Manage GNC related activities for engineering project(s) including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are attained.
- Provides technical direction to GNC engineers in the development of new GNC systems for both weapon systems and some space systems.
- Supports development of GNC system design, simulation model development, trade studies, performance analyses, ground and flight testing.
- May serve as GNC Lead for one or more projects simultaneously while performing GNC Engineering Manager duties.
- Develops and presents briefing materials at design reviews and customer meetings.
- Facilitates rapid resolution of delays that impact GNC tasks including real-time, thorough communication with task leads, program management and other leadership.
- Participates with technical staff, program managers and/or Division/Group executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business and financial objectives for the unit(s)
Other
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience
- Must possess an Active DoD Top Secret clearance
- Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required
- Travel Expectations: 25-50%
