Woodward is looking to solve the problem of designing, developing, validating, improving, and/or supporting products, systems, or applications by hiring an Engineering Manager – Actuators and Specialty Valves who can lead and improve an engineering organization. The role aims to enhance quality, velocity, and cost efficiency in product development, integrate new technologies, and ensure competitive design solutions.

Requirements

  • 8 - 12years engineering experience in an identical or closely related field
  • Greenbelt or Black belt experience
  • Lean experience
  • DFSS
  • Risk analysis

Responsibilities

  • Foster a robust design culture by implementing systemic improvements to enhance quality, velocity, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and improve design standards to ensure high-quality, compliant products and integrate lessons learned from quality issues into future designs.
  • Utilize structured methods (e.g., DFSS, Lean, risk analysis) to enhance product value, resolve project risks, and integrate new technologies for competitive design solutions.
  • Provide product expertise to internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams, to support business growth.
  • Manage the product life cycle (PLC) process, ensure key deliverables, and maintain organizational documents and operating procedures.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to identify and deploy new methods for improving the company's competitiveness.
  • Guide design efforts, customer interactions, and other engineering related matters such as quality problem solving.

Other

  • Build and maintain a highly skilled team through training, talent management, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with business demands.
  • Develop and manage budgets to support profit planning while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Assign resources to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and other initiatives to meet organizational objectives and critical needs.
  • Drive strategic goals by cascading objectives, supporting other groups during critical situations, and participating in innovation and patent committees.
  • UNITED STATESUS – Technical/Vocational Degree
  • UNITED STATESUS – Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) - preferred
  • Previous management experience
