Airtable's Developer Platform team needs an Engineering Manager to own the vision and roadmap for developer experience, focusing on scaling internal systems to support an evolving product suite and enabling engineers to ship features quickly, reliably, and securely.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud infrastructures.
- 2+ years managing high-performing engineering teams, with a track record of mentoring senior-level engineers.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps toolchains (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Capable of setting long-term technical strategies that boost productivity across the entire engineering org.
- Skilled at building trust across teams, with the ability to balance technical trade-offs and business priorities.
- Comfortable using metrics (build success rates, deployment times, developer NPS) to inform decision-making and optimize systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of senior/staff engineers to deliver robust developer tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Own the roadmap for the developer platform, integrating CI/CD improvements, build automation, and tooling.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices to evolve the developer experience.
- Oversee the design and evolution of build and release pipelines, ensuring low lead times and high reliability.
- Drive initiatives to automate workflows, detect flaky tests, and implement robust quality gates.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and security teams to align on priorities and ensure platform projects meet business needs.
- Translate complex technical strategies into measurable outcomes and clear action plans.

- Our total compensation package also includes the opportunity to receive benefits, restricted stock units, and may include incentive compensation.
- For work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles, the base salary range for this role is:$240,000—$320,000 USD
