Google is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership and manage a team of engineers working on the Android test execution and orchestration framework. The goal is to ensure the reliability, resilience, efficiency, elasticity, and scalability of the fleet infrastructure that supports major platforms like Android, Chrome, and ChromeOS, impacting billions of devices worldwide.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software development with Java.
- 3 years of experience with developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with continuous integration, compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with Go, SQL, Data Processing, Google Kubernetes Engine.
Responsibilities
- Lead the outlook, strategy, and prioritization across the area of Android (all verticals) test execution and orchestration, exercising a deep understanding of test infra directions and associated architectures.
- Manage a group of ~5-8 Software Engineers working on Android test execution and orchestration framework, fostering their growth and career development.
- Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders on Android/Aluminium/Pixel and PDEIO engineering teams, collaborators within PDEIO infra teams, and partners across Google (e.g. Core) on test execution and orchestration-related topics, acting as a liaison with deep technical insights.
- Drive innovation across team on infra reliability, efficiency and scalability improvements.
- Lead the team in cross-PDEIO infra convergence efforts.
- Optimize your own code and make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs.
- Manage project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team.
Other
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
