Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking an Engineering Manager to manage functional teams through program execution for their ISR and aviation systems, specifically for the U.S. Air Force's (USAF) Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) mission. The role involves modernizing and delivering the next-generation SAOC aircraft, ensuring critical command, control, and communication capabilities during national emergencies.

Requirements

  • Experience with large scale software development
  • Experience with automation and configuration management
  • Experience with software process automation with popular scripting languages
  • Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language
  • Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
  • Thorough Understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation

Responsibilities

  • Manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services.
  • Represent the engineering department at all management level meetings.
  • Ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets.
  • Own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.
  • Support project staffing plans, schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages, including the execution of risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure the availability and effectiveness of required tools, processes, and training to achieve program success, while aligning with SNC tools/processes and industry best practices/standards.
  • Manage resource allocations required for program task execution, as well as risk, issue, and challenge identification.

Other

  • Typically, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.
