Remitly is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers to build a world-class experience for customers when a cross-border money transfer is submitted. The role involves overseeing all aspects of software development, establishing technical roadmaps and strategies, improving existing systems, and reducing technical debt.

- Solid technical background in backend services, distributed systems, and frontend development (React/React Native).
Responsibilities
- Provide Technical Leadership and lead complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.
- Oversee development of UX experiences and backend services powering transfer tracking, amendments, receipts, and exception handling.
- Manage the work of a product team with a DevOps mindset and own team metrics (eg SLA, on-call health etc.).
- Make appropriate tradeoffs between schedule, features, and help the team make sound technical decisions.
- Translate requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.
- Establish the best technical roadmap and strategy to simultaneously accomplish our goals, improve existing systems, and reduce technical debt.
- Work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation.

- Mentor, coach, and grow engineers of varying levels of experience.
- Partner with product managers, design, customer service, and compliance to understand requirements, translate these requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.
- Set a high bar for planning and execution, including quarterly goals, resource allocation, and prioritization.
- 3+ years of management experience building diverse and empowered teams in customer-facing domains.
- Experience aligning diverse stakeholders and communicating effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000 - $220,000.
- For corporate team members, we have an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time monthly, typically achieved by coming in three days a week.
