Brunswick is looking for a Dynamometer Test Technician to prepare and execute dynamometer testing for gasoline and electric propulsion products, diagnose issues, and provide data to the product development team.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in disassembly, assembly, troubleshooting, and operation theory of internal combustion engines
  • Demonstrated experience using related precision tools and equipment, such as torque wrenches, borescopes, and calipers
  • Solid computer skills for data acquisition, report generation, and test management
  • Basic experience with machining, welding, and fabrication
  • Previous experience with dynamometer testing, engine performance, emissions, or tuning
  • Experience with electric motor testing is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with AVL Puma software

Responsibilities

  • Execute dynamometer testing on both new and existing marine propulsion products, including gasoline and electric motors.
  • Rig engines within the dynamometer cell
  • Perform routine maintenance on test units, including oil changes, valve lash adjustments, spark plug replacements, and taking oil samples.
  • Install or remove engine components as required (e.g., cylinder heads, camshafts, exhaust systems, sensors).
  • Troubleshoot engine and test cell issues—both electrical and mechanical
  • Fabricate fixtures and test parts
  • Document and maintain detailed written logs and data records for all test cycles and maintenance activities.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Exceptional attention to detail, especially crucial with written documentation and data recording
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including the occasional evenings or weekends, as dictated by testing schedules and project demands
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a dynamic, sometimes noisy or hot/cold test cell environment
  • Work is primarily conducted in an engine test cell and laboratory setting, with exposure to noise, fumes, and occasional heavy lifting
