PNNL's National Security Directorate (NSD) drives science-based, mission-focused solutions to take on complex, real-world threats to the nation and the world, and the AI and Data Analytics Division (AIDA) is looking for a Software Engineer in Test to ensure the quality and reliability of highly complex software solutions and systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 1+ years Python/C++/C-Sharp or other software development/test experience, ideally working with data, data engineering, APIs, microservices, or Cloud Computing.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying software engineering, test engineering, and data management best practices through successfully delivering projects or initiatives.
  • Familiar with machine learning algorithms with hands-on experience in machine learning pipeline development and/or related test strategies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possession of an active security clearance.
  • Experience with data acquisition and management to analysis and decision support.

Responsibilities

  • Identify mission challenges and methodically formulate test solutions.
  • Demonstrate software quality and test excellence and deliver high-quality results at scale.
  • Collaborate with data scientist and software engineers to transform research into fully scalable solutions.
  • Apply strong test engineering principles and innovative problem-solving skills to complex technical challenges.
  • Stay current on advancements in test strategies and technologies and a broad scope of engineering domains (such as AI, API, Data Engineering, Cloud Computing and more).
  • Take initiative in setting and pursuing personal goals and professional growth.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and collaborate successfully in a team environment.

  • Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.
