Emerson is looking for a Safety Co-op student to assist with safety and environmental management activities at their Sherman, TX location. The role involves completing various assessments, audits, and projects to improve safety processes and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations, and other regulations that may be applicable to Environmental, Safety and Health, Safety Program Management, Industrial Hygiene, and project management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Completed coursework in construction safety
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 GPA or higher
  • Previous related co-op/intern experience in Safety (corporate or manufacturing environment) or customer service

Responsibilities

  • Review and support the updates to a variety of formal safety programs (i.e., Lockout, Fall Protection, Global Harmonization System)
  • Perform safety surveys and engage employees in their work
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement of safety processes
  • Assist and lead projects under the supervision of the Site ES&H Manager and Safety Specialists
  • complete activities such as audits, monitoring, Job Safety Analyses, ergonomic assessments, ventilation assessments, chemical assessments, and other related projects.

Other

  • Currently enrolled student with minimum 30 hours towards a bachelor’s degree or master’s in Safety, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role
  • Currently enrolled student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or Safety Engineering, preferably junior or senior class
