Texas A&M University is seeking an Equine Research Technician to perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities, manage laboratory operations, supervise personnel, and conduct experiments related to host-agent interactions.
Requirements
- Two years of related professional experience to include experience with infectious diseases (preferably with zoonotic infections), research experience (preferably related to animal studies), laboratory experience, and experience with recording, curating, and analyzing research data.
- Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, record, organize, and prepare data for statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operates research equipment and conduct experiments pertaining to host-agent interactions.
- Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine research; keeps detailed records of data.
- Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
- Modifies procedures to suit the research need.
- Assists in making chemical and physical analyses which, although they follow standard procedures and tests, may require the exercise of some ingenuity and improvisation.
- Assists with animal experiments including, but not limited to, sample collection and supply organization as needed.
