The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an ETL/ELT Developer/Cloud Implementer to build and maintain cloud data warehousing and infrastructure, and to support public health data collection systems and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Experience evaluating and consulting on data management techniques and tools and data warehousing or similar technology (e.g., data lakes, data marts, etc.).
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, etc.).
  • Experience using SQL and other programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java, etc.).
  • Experience building, implementing, and managing data infrastructure in the cloud (e.g., data extraction, orchestration, storage, networking and cost management) in a government, health care, or public health setting.
  • Experience in data extract, transformation, and load (ETL/ELT) techniques and execution.
  • Experience building and implementing data architectures
  • Experience providing technical consultation regarding data strategy, tool implementation, or data management, to individuals with varying technology backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining cloud data warehousing and cloud infrastructure
  • Building and maintaining pipelines using SQL and/or Python for data warehousing and data infrastructure efforts for data sources stored both on premise and in the cloud
  • Cleansing and organizing data for analysis and reporting
  • Developing and maintaining SQL data ETLs and managing relational data
  • Linking data from various sources
  • Documenting data and data flows in the metadata management system.
  • design, development, implementation, and maintenance of public health data, data systems and services.

Other

  • Must have access to both a private workspace and high-speed internet if working remotely.
  • A greater in-office presence may be required periodically for meetings, events, training, onboarding, or other operational needs.
  • All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
  • For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.
