Utah Valley University's Department of Information Systems and Technology is seeking to fill two tenure-track faculty positions to develop and teach undergraduate courses, contribute to curriculum development, engage in scholarly activities, and provide service to the university. One position specifically aims to support the Kahlert Applied AI Institute by advancing AI integration across the university.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience incorporating artificial intelligence concepts and applications into curriculum design and instruction, with the ability to contextualize AI within the information systems field and advance students’ understanding of its relevance and impact.
- Deep understanding of applied artificial intelligence and machine learning principles, including data modeling, predictive analytics, and intelligent systems integration within enterprise information environments.
- Knowledge gained through teaching experience or expertise in at least three of the following areas: applied artificial intelligence, machine learning/data analytics, information systems design and implementation, Internet of Things, and computer and information security.
- Knowledge of subject matter and course content pertinent to Information Systems and Information Technology programs.
- Knowledge of online teaching environments, such as Canvas or other course management systems
- Ability to use a classroom learning management system, such as Canvas.
- Ability to engage in activities that broadly support applied AI across the university, developing interdisciplinary programs, mentoring students, building industry partnerships, and participating in Institute governance.
Responsibilities
- develops and teaches undergraduate courses in programming, database design and SQL, web and application development, systems analysis and design, applied artificial intelligence, data analytics, computer and information security, and global and ethical issues in technology
- serves on the departmental Information Systems Curriculum Committee
- participates in accreditation assessment
- engages in scholarly activities that contribute to the mission of the university, department, and profession
- provides service to the department, college, and university
- supports the Kahlert Applied AI Institute through collaborative research, curriculum development, and initiatives that advance the integration of AI across the University
- develop a learning environment and activities that help students achieve their learning objectives
Other
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related academic field.
- Minimum of six months post-secondary teaching experience.
- At least two years of related teaching, training, and/or industry experience.
- Evidence of scholarly research.
- Interpersonal and written communication skills.
