The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) is seeking to design viable climate-focused financial products that are both attractive to diaspora SACCO members and feasible for SACCOs to offer, in alignment with climate finance and cooperative principles.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience inclusive finance focusing on financial product design, in particular with deposit products
- Experience with product design in diaspora markets strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex financial products for mass-market adoption
- Background in climate finance, green bonds, or impact investing preferred
- Familiarity with standard product design instruments such as 8P’s or similar
- Ability to assess financial feasibility of products and calculate climate impact
- Experience with financial modeling and projection
Responsibilities
- Using data from the market analyses in three diaspora countries and the institutional assessment of five SACCOs, propose the design of market responsive climate deposit products for SACCO members in the diaspora for each of five selected SACCOs using standard product design instruments such as 8P’s or similar.
- Engage actively with each SACCO to ensure that the product has buy-in and is appropriately tailored
- Assess the financial feasibility of each product, including scenarios of at least three key risks highlighted in the background information.
- Assess the climate impact and how the returns can be calculated and monitored.
- Hold a workshop with each SACCO to validate and finalize the product design
- As needed, engage with other technical providers within the context of the project, including digital and operations specialists.
- Finalize product and financial projections and leave a clear document and financial model for each SACCOs to use in design and testing.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, marketing or related field.
- Demonstrated success in designing financial products which have reached large scale
- Ability to work with SACCOs and engage with stakeholders
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to submit understanding of the scope of work, CV, cover letter, and proposed daily and hourly rate in USD
