The Flagstar Bank is looking to solve the problem of independent risk management review and challenge of the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) and Credit Loss Forecasting, with a particular focus on Credit Analytics.
Requirements
- Proficient in analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, or Excel/VBA; experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of CECL and ACL governance, model validation frameworks, and financial performance metrics.
- Prior exposure to multifamily CRE, Commercial, secured or unsecured lending products.
- Familiarity with OCC/FRB regulatory expectations and internal audit processes.
- Experience with model governance documentation, risk rating systems, and reserve adequacy reporting.
- Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum experience required: 4+ Years in financial risk, credit risk modeling, or quantitative analytics within banking, fintech, or regulatory environments.
Responsibilities
- Support quantitative reviews and validation of ACL estimates, with a focus on understanding model limitations and performance, model sensitivities, segmentation logic, and overlays.
- Write and present independent challenge memos assessing ACL methodology, management overlays, and model assumptions, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
- Leverage model validation and ongoing monitoring reports and perform back-testing and benchmarking, as applicable.
- Monitor and interpret portfolio-level financial risk trends across secured and unsecured credit products (e.g., CRE, C&I, Real Estate & Consumer Loans).
- Use internal and external data to support the independent risk management review and challenge of credit forecasts.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of dashboards and tools to monitor risk-adjusted performance, forecast accuracy, and early warning indicators.
- Prepare materials and analyses for senior management, internal audit, regulatory reviews (OCC/FDIC), and Risk Committees.
