Meta is looking to develop viewing optics and optical system hardware for their Mixed Reality (MR) products, facing technical challenges in optical materials, manufacturing processes, and system integration to achieve performance, quality, and affordability targets.
Requirements
- 6+ years industrial or advanced research experience in following areas: non-linear static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis, structural and thermal-structural modeling
- Experience in using Abaqus, Ansys, COSMOL, or equivalent CAE packages
- Familiar with any combination of non-linear static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis, structural and thermal-structural modeling
- Experience in calibration, verification, and validation of FEA models through material characterization and DOEs
- Experience in the full product development cycle for consumer electronics
Responsibilities
- Establish finite element models/analytical models of optical components, subassemblies and module assemblies of VR optical systems
- Own and drive failure analysis, design of experiments, and material characterization to support modeling results
- Provide directions of design, process changes and corrective actions to the team to meet product performance requirements
- Communicate and report analysis results to cross-functional teams
Other
- Bachelors degree or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science, Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
- Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science, Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Physics, or relevant technical field
- Experience in working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
