The Software Engineering team at Dell Technologies is looking to hire a Firmware Engineer (BIOS/Embedded Controller) to develop sophisticated systems and software based on customer business goals, needs, and the general business environment. This role involves working on next-generation firmware architecture and development for ARM-based embedded controllers, contributing to the full software development life cycle.
Requirements
- architecture, design and development of BIOS/UEFI/PC Firmware
- Knowledge or relevant deployment experience of the PC ecosystem with a focus on silicon initialization, memory initialization, storage, security, in-band/out-of-band manageability in BIOS
- Experience with multiple programming languages; operating systems; RTOS, Zephyr, device drivers; databases; system, network; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities
- Strong Python skills (pytest/Robot, async I/O, logging, packaging); solid shell scripting (PowerShell/Bash)
- ML skills: model development with PyTorch/TensorFlow/scikit-learn, feature engineering for time-series/logs, evaluation and calibration.
- Ability to code/debug and guide others to code/debug flexible, scalable and complex programs, using either written or verbal design specifications
- Experience with the security development life cycle, including technical understanding of common security vulnerabilities and risks, and countermeasures
Responsibilities
- Take part in the full software development life cycle including architecture, design, development, test, continuous delivery and support of UEFI BIOS and Embedded Controller.
- Lead next generation firmware architecture design, ensuring it is modular, portable, resilient, and secure on ARM based embedded controller
- Lead firmware development as an active member of an agile team, collaboratively realizing features through development, test and delivery
- Mentor team members in design collaboration, code reviews, development tools and processes

- master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant experience
