Ford Racing is looking to hire a technical leader to manage a global chassis engineering team responsible for the design and release of high-performance production and competition vehicles. The goal is to drive excellence in capability, performance, and customer experiences by developing best-in-class chassis systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Underbody Chassis Systems Design
  • Demonstrated experience with leading Chassis Engineering teams on multiple concurrent programs.
  • Experience in active suspensions and/or off-road chassis systems design.
  • Deep knowledge of suspension and/or frame and/or brake systems design & release.
  • Working understanding of Functional requirements, failure mode effects, causes, severity and detection methods (DFMEAs)
  • Ability to develop clear working level documents and management presentations

Responsibilities

  • Design and release responsibility for Ford Racing unique active and passive suspension systems: Arms /bushings /joints, knuckles, springs, active shocks, passive shocks, jounce bumpers, steering gears, stabilizer bars / links, track tires, off-road tires and wheels.
  • Design and release responsibility for Ford Racing unique chassis structure: Frames, subframes, body & subframe mounts, jacks, spare tire winch and skid plates .
  • Design and release responsibility and brake development for Ford Racing unique vehicle brake systems. Brake development ( analytical, rig and vehicle testing for system sizing, pedal feel and legal requirements ) Design & Release for Track Vehicles Brake Systems: Caliper, rotor, pads, dust shield and brake hoses. Design & Release for Off-Road Vehicle Brake Systems: Rotors, pads, dust shields and brake hoses & lines.
  • Program Management Team (PMT) responsibility to coordinate core chassis parts used on Ford Racing products and Ford Racing led design to support program engineering and financial milestone through PPAP process to launch.
  • Lead the chassis system and component target cascade for road loads, joint sizing, dimensional capability to support alignment & ride heights, weight and cost.
  • Lead the Ford Racing Chassis Engineering delivery of engineering program gateways with high level of engineering excellence for design failure mode analysis, analytical analysis of designs for capability and resolution of issues with problem solving methods for sound root cause analysis.
  • Support Ford Racing Pre-Program Vehicle Architecture Chassis System layout for kinematics by providing feedback related to suspension feasibility for loads ( bushing / joint / section size) and component and assembly feasibility.

Other

  • BS degree in Engineering required.
  • Ability to manage several unique tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to both Ford and supplier domestic and foreign locations.
  • Candidates for positions with Ford Motor Company must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
