The business problem is to pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare by developing large-scale multimodal foundation models and integrating AI systems into global clinical workflows, for everyone, everywhere, sustainably, at Siemens Healthineers.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with a focus on machine learning, computer vision, or medical imaging
  • Exceptional candidates with an MS degree and strong research/industry experience will also be considered
  • Experience with model distillation and few-/zero-shot learning approaches
  • Knowledge of AI safety, reliability, and interpretability
  • Familiarity with global healthcare AI regulations and emerging AI safety frameworks
  • Experience with large-scale multimodal AI systems and medical imaging
  • Programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python, C++, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy large-scale multi-modal foundation AI models, aiming for disruptive downstream performance
  • Define model distillation techniques and innovative few-/zero-shot methods for significantly faster AI feature development (e.g., scaling systems to hundreds of findings)
  • Coordinate closely with peer AI scientists, software engineers, and clinical experts to bridge AI innovation with real-world medical applications
  • Strive to enable leaps in AI performance toward (semi-)autonomous systems that enhance decision-making, workflow automation, and personalized patient care
  • Maintain constant awareness of relevant literature and new developments in the field
  • Support integration of large-scale multimodal AI systems using medical imaging, electronic health records, real-time monitoring, and other healthcare data sources
  • Guide the transition from AI research to scalable, real-world deployments in hospitals worldwide
