Role We are seeking a Founding Software Engineer to spearhead development across our technology stack. This role will be involved in building the software that organizes the deployment of Voltair's drones into the field and the analysis software that delivers an unprecedented inspection service to power utilities.
Key Technical Contributions
- Data Infrastructure & Report Delivery: Build scalable database infrastructure supporting Petabyte-scale sensor data and labelled imagery datasets. Implement pipelines for generating inspection reports and build custom software integrations for customer GIS and work order platforms.
- Drone Autonomy & SLAM: Contribute to the ROS-based autonomy stack, focusing on core robotics challenges including real-time SLAM, sensor fusion, robust state estimation, and path planning for infrastructure inspection maneuvers.
- Operations & Mission Planning Support internal tools to dispatch manual and autonomous drone inspections on the power grid. This includes building algorithms for efficient inspection routes that account for hardware specifications and real-world environmental factors.
- Machine Learning: Support the implementation and optimization of visual machine learning algorithms for the automated detection and classification of power grid anomalies from high-resolution aerial imagery.
