The Comptroller's Office is looking for a Front-end Web Applications Developer to join their Web Applications Tax and Reporting development team to build world-class tax solutions and craft visually stunning and seamlessly functional web applications for their application portfolio.
Requirements
- Five (5) years’ full-time work experience in the design and coding of full stack applications utilizing React.JS, and JavaScript; three (3) of which must have been working experience in a microservices environment developing RESTful API endpoints.
- Four (4) years’ experience writing Unit and E2E tests to ensure 100% test coverage.
- Three (3) years’ experience with JavaScript (ECMAScript 6+)
- Two (2) years’ experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
- Six (6) years’ experience with modern JavaScript microframeworks (React.js, Vue.js, etc.) implementing highly scalable, high throughput web applications in a large-scale Enterprise environment.
- Three (3) years’ experience in application design for mobile first web applications including HTML5, CSS3, and the Bootstrap/MUI framework.
- Experience in mobile-first development concepts.
Responsibilities
- Performs coding tasks in React.JS and related technologies based on business requirements in a distributed development environment; designs and codes applications adhering to established architecture, design & coding standards.
- Oversees and/or performs unit testing and integration testing of applicable changes based on requirements, including implementation and environment preparation, documentation, coordination, and monitoring.
- Mentors other developers regarding hardware, software, and the use of advanced technical solutions and tools
- Oversees and/or performs analysis, research, and interpretation of business requirements to document technical requirements and develop technical specifications.
- Documents current or proposed software applications; participates in status, training, requirements, design, and review sessions; and creates written proposals for improvement in the tools & technologies in the defined architecture.
- Responds to problems in an on-call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree.
- Work Hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday. Occasionally work additional hours on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, including working on-call 24 hours a day during a rotation.
- Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e. report to office 1 day/month, 1-3 days/week, etc.).
