State Affairs is looking to build a category-defining business that will reshape America by strengthening visibility into what's happening and why at the state level. The Frontend Software Engineer will contribute to this by developing the user-facing components of their web applications.

Requirements

  • Ability to use HTML to create responsive and dynamic user interfaces
  • Ability to develop web applications using React or Angular
  • Demonstrated skills in version control systems (GIT)
  • Demonstrated skills in web performance optimization
  • Knowledge of UX principles and the ability to translate design concepts into functional, user-friendly interfaces
  • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and the development of AI-driven features and models
  • Ability to develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs and work with various architectures

Responsibilities

  • Develop the user-facing components of web applications, such as the layout, design, and interactive features
  • Collaborate with designers and back end engineers to ensure the user interface is consistent with the overall design and functionality of the application
  • Optimize the performance and accessibility of the user interface, as well as testing and debugging front end code
  • Craft exceptional user experiences - focusing on the details, optimizing for performance (like first-paint metrics), and ensuring pixel-perfect design implementation

Other

  • 5+ years of professional work experience as a frontend software engineer
  • Prior professional work experience in a start-up organization
  • This is an onsite work opportunity and our teams operate from the Washington, DC office
