Harrisburg University is looking to solve the problem of providing high-quality education in Data Science and Analytics by hiring a faculty member to teach and conduct research in the field.
Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent) in a data-driven field such as Data Science, Computational Social Sciences, Quantitative Economics or Finance, Applied Statistics
- Expert-level knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Marketing, Time-Series/Forecasting, Finance, Health/Medical Analytics, Computer Visions, NLP/LLMs, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Spatial Analytics
- Experience with academic publishing or research report/grant writing
- Skills in mentoring graduate student research and managing doctoral research
- Knowledge of Statistical Thinking, Ethics for Analytics and AI, Advanced Data Handling, and Effective Data Communication
- Experience with Machine Learning, NLP, Forecasting, and Spatial Analytics
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, healthcare informatics, pharmaceutical science, project management, computer/information systems, and consumer behavior
Responsibilities
- Teaching graduate-level courses in Data Science and Analytics
- Mentoring graduate student research and managing doctoral research
- Conducting research in Data Science and Analytics
- Developing and teaching courses in areas such as Statistical Thinking, Ethics for Analytics and AI, Advanced Data Handling, and Effective Data Communication
- Supervising doctoral students
- Engaging with students and contributing to the development of the Data Science and Analytics programs
- Participating in academic publishing or research report/grant writing

- Graduate-Level Teaching Aptitude: A passion for teaching and the ability to engage with students
- Doctoral Student Supervision: Experience or skills mentoring graduate student research and managing doctoral research

- Ability to teach on-site 2 weekends per semester
