Breaking down the walls between data platforms and developer platforms for Spotify's enterprise internal developer portal (IDP) product, Backstage Portal, by building Data Experience to make data as discoverable and well-documented as any software component.
Requirements
- You have demonstrated ability with TypeScript and React, able to craft intuitive interfaces that enhance Portal's data experience for enterprise customers.
- You have experience building backend services and APIs with Node.js delivering scalable, efficient systems that handle metadata at scale.
- You’re passionate about data platforms and integrations, eager to work with data warehouse APIs and understand how data practitioners discover, run, and use datasets in their workflows.
- You grow with full-cycle product development, from customer research and discovery to coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support, constantly learning and growing as a well-rounded engineer.
Responsibilities
- Build and Innovate: Develop Backstage powered UIs with TypeScript and React, and build Node.js backend services that integrate dataset discovery and metadata management with Portal's catalog, search, and ecosystem, unlocking the power of data for enterprise customers.
- Integrate and Connect: Build and maintain connectors that sync datasets and metadata from industry-leading data warehouses and transformation tools into our Data Registry, giving customers a unified view of their data landscape.
- Own the Full Lifecycle: Lead projects from ideation and design through deployment, monitoring, and customer support, delivering well-tested, maintainable solutions that scale.
- Collaborate with Customers: Partner with Portal customers, data platform teams, data owners, and data consumers, to identify pain points, gather requirements, and iterate on features that deliver real value.
