Zone 5 Technologies is seeking a full-stack software engineer to build mission-critical systems that bridge internal users, machine learning models, and RAG services to support unmanned aircraft systems and defense applications.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, React and Python
  • Experience with REST or gRPC APIs
  • Familiarity with vector databases and embedding frameworks (e.g., Milvus, PGVector, etc.)
  • Experience with WebGL/Three.js for 3D visualization (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Tailwind UI or other modern frontend component libraries (preferred)
  • Understanding of designing for observability (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Build front-end interfaces in React and backend services in FastAPI to support dataset triage, model evaluation, and simulation workflows
  • Develop clean, maintainable Rest/gRPC APIs for tool integrations
  • Document interfaces and CLI tooling for both internal and field users
  • Integrate RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines using LangChain, Milvus, PGVector, and Ollama
  • Deploy semantic search and generation features against internal technical documents and flight data
  • Implement evaluation mechanisms for LLM outputs
  • Build intuitive interfaces and workflows tailored to non-ML engineers and mission operators

Other

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years experience (mid-level) or 5-7 years experience (senior-level) experience in full-stack development, preferably in aerospace or defense
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Strong product sensibility and user-oriented mindset
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire
