OpenAI is seeking a Fullstack Engineer to develop and maintain data-intensive, AI-powered applications and infrastructure to detect, analyze, and disrupt abuse, specifically focusing on child safety tools and systems. The goal is to protect vulnerable populations and ensure ethical AI deployment.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript
- Experience with large-scale data pipelines and search/retrieval systems
- Familiarity with tools such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, data warehouses, and SQL
- Ability to design user-centric products with a focus on workflows and rapid iteration
- Experience working on high-severity harm mitigation or safety-critical systems
- Knowledge of child safety challenges, including secure handling of quarantined content and reporting to NCMEC, is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Prototype, develop, and maintain intelligence systems that detect and triage potential high-severity harms
- Build scalable and reliable infrastructure supporting data ingestion, processing, and analysis
- Create intuitive user interfaces and tooling to facilitate efficient review and investigation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement safety-focused features and systems
- Contribute to the technical strategy for child safety tools and systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Analyze and report on system impact using data-driven metrics to inform continuous improvements
- Rapidly iterate on solutions based on user feedback and operational needs
