American Express Ventures (Amex Ventures) is seeking to pipeline for future potential openings in 2025 for an Investment Analyst to help develop investment theses, source and execute investments for the Enterprise Software team. The Enterprise team invests in companies developing innovative products and capabilities for enterprise customers in areas such as AI/ML, security, data infrastructure, developer tools, identity, fraud/risk, and banking/payment infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2+ years previous professional experience in a finance, strategy, or tech role; examples may include VC or PE investing, investment banking, management consulting, or a high-impact role at a technology company (product management, business operations, strategic finance, etc.)
  • Well-developed strategic thinking capabilities to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations on a first-principles basis
  • Analytical mindset and deep understanding of finance and valuation fundamentals
  • Strong interest in enterprise software and motivation to engage with the startup ecosystem

Responsibilities

  • Engage across the full lifecycle of venture investing, including sourcing, evaluating, transacting, and managing investments
  • Conduct market and industry analysis to support investment thesis development around strategic focus areas
  • Build strong relationships with the venture capital and startup ecosystem to proactively identify and qualify relevant companies
  • Evaluate business cases and assess investment opportunities from a strategic, operational and financial perspective
  • Provide key analysis and support for transactions, working closely with internal and external partners to execute investments
  • Manage due diligence and investment decision-making process including preparation of investment memos, financial modeling and analysis, oversight of legal negotiations, and management of deal execution workstreams
  • Monitor portfolio company performance on an ongoing basis, working with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic partnership value

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of driving effective collaboration across internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
