NiSource is looking for engineering interns to assist with projects related to utility facility needs, potentially involving the evaluation, design, estimation, and project management of electric and gas facilities.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with PC applications and prefer strong skills with AutoCad and MS Excel & Access

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and analyzing data and reviewing records.
  • Creating job order sketches using AutoCad.
  • Perform field measurements
  • Assemble data to create job order estimates

  • This is a 12-week summer internship program with tentative dates from May 11, 2026 to August 7, 2026, for students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in fall 2026.
  • The role is based in Ohio.
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible.
  • This position requires a current student of an ABET accredited, four-year engineering program
  • High importance placed on the ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbal and written
  • High consideration for those candidates with interpersonal skills which are effective in communication with internal and external customers.
  • Desire a quick learner with the willingness to remain flexible in various work assignments.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Successful candidate will start in summer 2026

  • Current student of an accredited, four-year Engineering program
  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study
  • Ability to work 40 hrs/week
  • Proven communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
