Norfolk Southern is looking to solve complex business problems using Generative AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to drive business value.

Requirements

  • Hands-on background in Generative AI, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), and deploying these solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, spaCy, NLTK, and Matplotlib.
  • Skilled in SQL, No SQL, and vector databases.
  • Knowledge of Agentic LLMs and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or workflows like AutoGPT.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (ECS, S3, Lambda, Bedrock, OpenSearch) Databricks.
  • DevOps expertise: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, Terraform.
  • NLP and AI/ML Frameworks: Experience with training NLP models from scratch, working with Large Language Models, and using libraries such as spaCy, NLTK, and Transformers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI solutions tailored to business use cases.
  • Develop and prototype solutions utilizing advanced LLM frameworks including LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, and related technologies.
  • Develop advanced prompts and design autonomous LLM applications that can operate tools and access APIs on their own.
  • Develop and optimize RAG pipelines and LLM integrations.
  • Experiment with Small Language Models and emerging GenAI techniques.
  • Integrate AI solutions with authentication systems and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Maintain and enhance the GenAI platform, including backend APIs and chat applications.

Other

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, Linguistics, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, NLP or AI positions.
  • Advanced degree, e.g., Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, Linguistics, or related field.
  • Hybrid 3 days on-site and remote work 2 days per week.
