3M's Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division is looking to develop novel applications of Generative AI to support their division researchers and customer-facing teams, aiming to implement transformative solutions.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in fundamental data science research and implementation in academic, private, public, government, or military environment.
  • One (1) year of experience working with Generative AI technologies.
  • Strong understanding of LLMs and Generative AI frameworks, vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, OpenSearch), and prompt engineering techniques.
  • Strong fluency in coding (e.g. python, javascript) and cloud architectures (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Experience working in scientific, data-intensive, or ML-related environments.
  • Experience in AI product development and scaling AI applications in enterprise environments.
  • Comfortable building and modifying systems from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Leading AI Solution Development: Drive the design, development, and deployment of Generative AI solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across global environments.
  • Innovating Continuously: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and research in the Generative AI space and connect new ideas to practical solutions.
  • Designing and Developing Solutions: Demonstrate the business value of novel AI systems by creating and implementing useful prototypes with the intent to scale successful solutions.
  • Collaborating Effectively: Act as the AI thought leader, working with cross functional teams including developers, devOps, LLMOps, material researchers, customer facing teams, and business leaders.
  • Challenging the Status Quo: Proactively suggest and test new opportunities for growth and improvement for both existing and yet-to-exist technologies and solutions.
  • Energizing the Team to Act: Bring positive energy and momentum, supporting team success through strong collaboration and shared accountability.

Other

  • Masters degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to work on a team where the problem is evolving, and code is shared.
  • Curious, fast learner, solid communicator.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
