The US Dept. of Energy (DOE) - Hanford Natural Resource Trustee Council (HNRTC) requires Geographical Information System (GIS) Data Steward Services to support the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) and Restoration Program, which aims to quantify contaminant-caused damages to natural resources and use recovered funds for restoration.
Requirements
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Hanford Site remediation, restoration, and data management;
- Experience working with and managing the collection, organization and use of Hanford Site geospatial and environmental data and databases, preferred.
- Knowledge of the Project Portal data management system.
- Familiarity with Hanford Site GIS clearinghouse and contractor geospatial references, preferred.
- Expertise in ArcGIS and related graphical, rendering, and modeling software.
- Experience working with and maintaining complex data and records.
Responsibilities
- Review existing GIS resources for completeness and quality for use in the injury assessment process.
- Provide support for mapping and visualization of existing environmental data, including: Topography / bathymetry / LIDAR | Vegetation/habitat features | Analytical data/contaminant concentrations | Hanford Site operational/jurisdictional boundaries | Surficial disturbances, etc.
- Assist with data interpretation, including visualization of data groupings to refine injury assessment study questions.
- Provide support to interpret static imagery, maps, and aerial photography or extrapolate to render GIS layers.
- Perform spatial queries to identify data points, resources of interest, geographical boundaries, areas or distances required for NRDA inquiry process
- Providing visualization support and location coordinate identification for sampling planning alternatives (example, the HNRTC Non-Process Area DQO)
- Aid in the data management system workflow for Project Portal

- Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/Power point) and related tools and technology required for the position.
