Schnabel is looking to bridge the gap between software and systems development and engineering processes by hiring a geotechnical engineer-communicator who can translate complex civil/geotechnical concepts into practical, enterprise-ready technology workflows, support geotechnical data management systems, and drive organization-wide communication, training, and adoption of digital tools and standards.
Requirements
- Familiarity with geotechnical data systems and analysis tools.
- M365 (SharePoint/Teams), PowerPoint, stakeholder engagement platforms
- gINT, DIGGS, OpenGround, SQL, CSV/JSON data formats
- ArcGIS/QGIS, Civil 3D/Bentley, OpenRoads/Revit (workflow understanding)
- Github/Git (basic workflow), quality management systems
- Familiarity with data governance and QA/QC frameworks.
- Experience with transportation/infrastructure owners.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation and improvement of geotechnical data management systems.
- Define and steward data standards, taxonomies, and QC/QA processes.
- Partner with IT to manage data integration pipelines/APIs.
- Establish data governance practices and monitor data quality KPIs.
- Elicit and document user requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Author functional specs and system context diagrams.
- Design and promote standardized digital workflows for geotechnical engineering.
Other
- Serve a liaison between engineering teams, software/product teams to align requirements, priorities, and timelines.
- Develop clear, audience‑appropriate communications, including release notes, roadmaps, FAQs, playbooks, and executive updates.
- Design and deliver training programs to scale adoption of geotechnical data and analysis tools across the enterprise.
- Build and maintain a community of practice and knowledge base.
- 5–8+ years in geotechnical engineering with exposure to digital tools and data management.
